About Frank and Sherri

Frank and Sherri Candelario are the founders of Kate's House Foundation, a national model for accredited, medication-assisted recovery housing. They teach everyday investors how to build profitable shared housing businesses using single-family homes — and have housed more than 1,000 people since 2015 while helping students open roughly 300 homes across the United States.

Our Story

More than a decade ago, we saw a crisis hiding in plain sight: housing for people in recovery, veterans, and adults aging out of foster care was unregulated, unstable, and often unsafe — and people receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment were being shut out entirely. So we did something radical. We invested our own retirement into buying high-quality single-family homes in strong neighborhoods and built a better way: safe, dignified, accredited housing that supports long-term recovery instead of punishing setbacks.

Today we own and operate eight Level II MAT homes in the Seattle area — including a home for disabled veterans near the VA — and hold contracts with state and federal programs, courts, and hospitals. What started as one house became a model now replicated nationwide. Through our Seattle Symposium, bus tours, and Home Study Program, we've trained thousands of investors who have created roughly 300 shared homes of their own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are Frank and Sherri?

What is Kate's House Foundation?

Kate's House Foundation is a nonprofit founded by Frank and Sherri that operates eight accredited, medication-assisted recovery homes in the Seattle area. It holds a 4-star Charity Navigator rating and a Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency, and serves as a national model for compassionate, funded recovery housing.

What is the shared housing model?

The shared housing model uses a single-family home to provide safe, supportive housing for several residents at once, typically people in recovery or veterans. Funded by state and federal programs, courts, and hospitals, it generates stable, contract-backed income for the housing provider while serving a community need.

How do you make money with shared housing?

Income comes from housing multiple residents in one property and charging by the bed, with support funded through government programs, courts, and agencies rather than relying on private paying clients. A single home shared by multiple residents can generate several streams of contract-backed income while filling a critical housing gap.
