Many people face housing insecurities. This can increase the likelihood of other challenges in life. Huck’s House helps solve these challenges by offering safe and supportive housing to help with fresh new start. Our desire is that they win in life.
The founder of Huck’s House is Sheila Giles, a proud West Virginia native and the youngest of ten siblings, earned three degrees from Bluefield State College while on a basketball scholarship: Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, and Recreational Leadership. Her career in public service began as a Police Officer at Duke University, followed by roles as an ALE Agent and an ABC Officer with Mecklenburg County, where she retired after more than 20 years of honorable service.
Now an instructor at Central Piedmont Community College, Sheila teaches ABC laws and regulations, leveraging her law enforcement experience and General Instructor’s Certificate. She’s also a real estate investor with a passion for rebuilding communities and breaking generational curses tied to a lack of ownership. Rooted in family and faith, Sheila and her husband Willie share a deep commitment to service, community, and lifting others up—one home, one person at a time.
